The event was in full swing by the time Aiden and I reached the Downs.

The tents were crowded. The surrounding grass was a sea of black.

Black dresses, black hair, black eye make-up, black lipstick.

Some enterprising stall-holder had even managed to produce black candyfloss.

I glanced at my boyfriend’s black leather trousers, black boots and black tunic studded with silver.

If it hadn’t been for his ash-blond hair, he would have fitted in perfectly, without any need for the concealment of Glamour.

Now I knew why he’d been willing to come along when I’d mentioned the Goth Fayre.
