Vidar doesn't pay a huge part, but he does survive Ragnarok, which is a bonus. I'm not really sure why I was so taken with him as a kid, but it's stick with me. There's a great novel with him in, Giants of the Frost by Kim Wilkins. Definitely worth looking out for. All her stuff is good, but with Vidar as a main character, it was right up my street.
