I adored Gallagher and it was so obvious that Athos didn't want to kill him, so naturally I had to apply Denial principles to what happened.
But although I really wanted this to be part of the series, I had to balance that with Athos' relationship with Treville, and I also didn't want there to be secrets between them. I just liked the idea that he suspected, but didn't challenge Athos until he decided to come clean.
I'd very much like to use Gallagher again in this series.
