“Perimeter established, boss!” Kermit yelled, his voice echoing around the disused quarry like a gunshot.
“No sign of any tracks,” Stephen said, after examining the area around the anomaly.
“So all we need to worry about are things that can fly,” Cutter muttered. “Or something too small to leave tracks.”
“The Professor’s streaking ahead in the Pessimist of the Week stakes,” Finn announced.
Fiver produced a battered notebook from his pocket. “OK, folks, time to take a punt. Two quid a head and closest guess takes the pot.”
“Cretaceous,” Ryan said quickly.
Cutter wasn’t the only pessimist on the team.
