Abby grabbed the cat and held it firmly.
“Run!” Ryan ordered.
The volcano belched more molten rock into the air.
She sprinted for the anomaly with the soldier hard on her heels.
Back in cold, wet Essex, Abby stared down at a rifle in her hands instead of the cat.
She looked around frantically and saw herself, holding the cat, standing a few paces away.
“Ryan?” Her voice sounded strange, too deep, too rough.
The person with the ash-blonde pixie-cut turned to her and nodded, eyes wide with shock.
“Oh shit,” Abby said heavily, in Ryan’s voice, not her own.
