“Order a takeaway from petty cash,” Lester said, waving his hand magnanimously at the small, locked tin on his desk. “On the Treasury.”

“Finn and Ross say they’ve got it under control,” Kermit announced cheerfully.

Lester winced. “I wasn’t aware that any of Miss Maitland’s patients had shuffled off their mortal coils recently.”

“They haven’t,” Stringer said.

“Turkey?” Lester allowed a faint note of hope to bleed into his voice.

Stringer shook his head.

“Chicken?”

Another shake of the head.

“Pork?”

“Frozen Fukuiraptor Fricassee. From last month’s Brighton beach shout.”

“I’ll share a vegetarian sausage with Miss Maitland,” Lester declared.
