Faramir turned on his heel and walked from the hall, his back straight and his head held high.
But inside he was the small boy who had longed for his father’s approval, for a word of praise, for some acknowledgement that his father was proud of him.
That small boy grew into a man who was still waiting for those same things.
He had lived in the shadow of his brother all his life.
His father’s second choice in all things.
Except when it came to their deaths.
For that he knew he would always have been the first choice.
