“That was a big bugger,” Lyle said appreciatively, staring out of the floor-to-ceiling window in his lover’s London flat, as a firework exploded and sent a starburst of colour over the skyline.

“I just hope the celebrations aren’t premature,” Lester commented, looping his arm around Lyle’s waist.

“Pessimist,” Lyle grinned. “Connor seems pretty certain this time.”

“Yes, he does, and if he’s right, he’ll in be in line for a Nobel Prize.”

“And if he’s wrong?”

“It’ll stuff my plans to retire to the country and shag you senseless on a daily basis.”

“Then we’d better hope he’s right, sweetie.”
