Drabble, Fire and Sleet and Candle-Lighte, Otherworld Investigations Series, 12
Title : Fire and Sleet and Candle-Lighte
Author : fredbassett
Original Fic : Otherworld Investigations Series
Rating : 12
Characters : Briana Wakelin, Dennis Smith
Copyright Notice : These characters are mine, all mine.
Spoilers : None
Summary : Written for the original fic challenge, Candles. This is my choice from another line for the Wild Card on the Bingo square.
A/N : I am aiming to write a series of drabbles or ficlets set in my original fic ‘verse for weekly prompts.
I like working with fire. It’s saved my life several times.
Candle light, moon bright,
I reached out and touched the match to the wick.
Watch me, guard me,
The flame flared, guttered for a moment in a draught and then took hold.
This night, every night,
I took a deep breath and concentrated on the small, flickering fire. It grew stronger and brighter.
Keep darkness away, keep evil at bay,
“You can trust fire,” I told my Apprentice. “It’s your friend. Remember that.”
Candle light, moon bright.
Dennis grinned and flourished a small lighter and a box of matches.

There was a Green Jacket/Father Murphy one a couple of weeks ago. You'll find them with the Otherworld Investigations tag, I think. It's all part of my get back into this universe effort.

I so envy Louise's ability with verse, and I don't just mean her recent one. *g*

Very evocative drabble, love that spell.

I still need to do more work on the actual spells themselves in this world.
