Becker’s phone emitted a shrill noise.

Luckily the budget review meeting had just finished.

“Take it, captain,” Lester said, knowing the sound of a call from the nursery.

Becker was due to pick up the pups in 15 minutes anyway, so what the fuck had happened?

He took the call, heart racing.

He listened for a moment then said, “That’s no problem, we’ve got seat covers. See you shortly.”

His phone pinged again with a WhatsApp photo.

Three puppies, utterly indistinguishable from each other due to a coating of thick mud.

The nature walk had clearly been a resounding success.
