A small bunch of daffodils nestled in a makeshift vase on the corner of her desk.
They bore a very distinct resemblance to the ones which surrounded the trees in the grounds of the ARC. Jenny just hoped the gardener hadn’t caught the thief in the act. She could do without having to placate yet another member of staff on what was already proving to be a difficult day.
Jenny Lewis wondered who she had to thank for the impromptu birthday present.
A moment later, a loud and distinctly Scottish-sounding sneeze echoed down the corridor outside her room.
Mystery solved.
