“We could always break up the furniture and burn it,” Lyle muttered.

Lester cast a mordant glance at his chrome and glass topped desk and the black faux leather sofa. “Really?”

Lyle shrugged. “Maybe not but it’s better than Norman’s bell, book and fucking candle approach.”

Lester winced. “He’s exorcising the boiler?”

“He’s been in contact with the C of E’s head exorcist.”

“The Archbishops’ Advisor in the Healing Ministry,” Lorraine corrected.

“What the fuck does he know about boilers?”

“She.”

“Ms Wickes, all staff memo, please…”

“Already done, Sir James. Wearing of sweaters is now mandatory rather than advisable.”

LOL! I was convinced my combi-boiler was possessed because it kept going off at odd times. Just needed the batteries replacing in my thermostat/timer.

Having lived with a boiler that could be rather temperamental I can see a lot of appeal in Norman's approach.
I am sure a few people will be cuddling together for warmth soon enough even with the addition of jumpers.
