He stepped into the control room behind Matt and stared around, schooling his face into a neutral expression.
The place was dark and cavernous, filled with workstations and computer terminals.
A pretty young woman sitting in front of the biggest bank of screens turned around and gave a small gasp of surprise.
“Do you keep the lights this low for a reason?” he asked curiously.
“Look after the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves, Captain Ryan,” remarked a familiar voice. “And before you ask, no, back pay isn’t an option.”
Ryan smiled. Some things definitely hadn’t changed.
