“Didn’t you get any of my messages?” Danny’s deceptively innocent tone was one that Lester was all too familiar with.
“Messages?” he asked, doing his best to maintain his habitual mask of impassivity.
“Messages,” Danny said, his blue eyes alive with mischief. “I wrote them on bones and buried them.”
Lester winced. “You wrote them on bones and buried them?” he repeated, wondering quite how many archaeological digs in the Rift Valley he was now going to have to monitor. “How very… inventive of you, darling.”
Danny grinned. “Well, I couldn’t exactly stick a message in a bottle, could I?”
