Ryan unfolded the small slip of paper and read the printed name.
Abby.
He didn’t know whether to be delighted or terrified.
For the next two weeks when he wasn’t on shift, he braved the hell of the Christmas markets, but was still no nearer finding a suitable present, although he drank a lot of mulled wine, and bough several cases of craft beer.
Finally, he found something he knew was just right.
A small, burnished copper lizard climbing up a piece of driftwood.
It was more than the £10 allowance, but he didn’t care.
He knew she’d love it.
