“Team meeting in ten minutes.” Claudia said apologetically.
Ryan looked up from his laptop, the dark shadows under his eyes telling the story of the a brutal fortnight at the sharp end of the anomaly project. “Wouldn’t miss it for the world.”
Claudia looked sceptical.
“I’ll plaster on a smile, I promise.”
“I’m sure Lester will appreciate it.”
Ryan grinned. “I’m sure he won’t give a damn.”
Ten minutes later, Claudia reappeared with a strong black coffee.
Ryan’s head was pillowed on his arms and he was fast asleep.
She made his excuses to Lester, who - for once - didn’t complain.
