A week ago today we had to say goodbye to our darling Lady Lurcher, so it seems somehow fitting that this afternoon we welcomed the lovely Gwen Greyhound into the family.
Trigger conducted a successful interview with her on Monday and she came to us on a home trial. She hasn't out a paw out of line and this afternoon it became official.
She's a two-year-old failed racer from Limerick. She has run a couple of times with Trigger, but she's nowhere near as fit and stops fairly quickly. She's learnt to sit, and walks well on the lead. She's not in the least bit reactive to other dogs and seems fine with all the ones she's met. her racing name was Velvet but that's not sharp enough for easy training, so she's become Guinivere Velvet, known as Gwen. It's an homage to Sr Guinfort, the patrin saint of geryhounds and lurchers, wo was herself a greyhound.
She fits in Lady's basket and sleeps in there every night. Stairs weren't easy at first but she's mostly got the hang of them now.
We're delighted to have her with us, and have the pleasure of knowing we've been able to give a home to another rejected dog, and made a place in rescue for another to be saved.
Welcome, Gwen! You're stepping into very big pawprints.
