A/N : posting early to avoid a repeat of last night’s computer issues!
Lester finished the mediocre champagne and considered discreetly slipping away to swallow some strong painkillers.
His head was splitting, his joints ached and he just wanted to go to bed and sleep for a week.
Instead, he had to endure an exchange of platitudes with the new Home Secretary.
The third one in as many years.
“My sons are dinosaur mad,” a soft voice murmured next to him. “Nice to meet you, Sir James.” Hannah Brightman’s smile held genuine warmth. “Can I interest you in some paracetamol and a budget increase?”
Lester returned her smile. “You certainly can, Home Secretary."
