“It was a herbivore,” Abby hissed, staring down at the broken corpse, fury in her eyes.
“It was three metres tall and capable of doing someone serious injury,” replied Captain Becker, no hint of apology in his clipped tones.
Stephen Hart beckoned to the soldier with one bloodstained hand and pointed. “It had three of my darts in its neck. If you come a bit closer to what you’ve just killed you’d see them. Think before you shoot next time.”
“It’s my job to keep you all safe,” retorted the soldier.
Stephen sighed. “Fuck off. We have Ryan for that.”
