“Derek Holness likes you.”
“He’s totally lame.”
“His dad’s got a holiday home in the Loire Valley.”
“Yeah, but Andy Prentiss’s family have got a flat in Miami.”
As his daughters happily pulled apart prospective boyfriends, Lester looked back nostalgically to the days when all they’d talked about was ponies.
His ex-wife had assured him that they were nowhere near as predatory as they sounded, but he wasn’t convinced.
The girls had spent the last hour picking over every adolescent male of their acquaintance like a pair of crows enjoying a tasty feast.
The pony phase had definitely been preferable.
