Summary : Written for the Primeval100 challenge 330, “It’s all Greek to me.”

Ryan looked down on a narrow strip of land flanked by mountains on one side and the sea on the other.

He didn’t need the display on Connor’s latest piece of technical wizardry to tell him exactly when or where they were.

Arrows darkened the sky and the soldier forced himself to watch them land.

Beside him, Connor had tears in his eyes and Sarah was crying openly.

With a silent nod to the brave men now dying by the hundred, Ryan turned away and quietly ordered the others to follow him.

Beneath an azure sky, history marched relentlessly on.

Oh yes, do not alter world history if you can possibly manage it!

Great fic!

A very powerful drabble - and extremely clever use of the prompt, too.

Waaaah! Brilliant description, but yes, that's one historical battle that you really don't want to interfere with the outcome.

Oh, very powerful, especially Ryan's reaction and the end line.

The battle of Thermopylae, I'm guessing. That general's quote about fighting in the shade has always stayed with me.

I just realised that I had neglected to look at your title - now I'm sure which battle it was!

Ooh, very nice. It must be surreal to land in one of the most epic battles in history.

I liked this a lot - the imagery and the realisation that they are passive observers to history.

Wah!
It must be so hard to watch a horrible thing and know that any change is too dangerous to even think about.
