The rain came down without warning, soaking everyone on the dig before they had a chance to get back to their tents.

Ordinarily, they would just have worked on, stripped down to shorts and teeshirts, but with the rain came a bitingly cold wild.

Nick and Helen tumbled into their large tent, laughing as they struggled to get out of their wet clothes.

Helen’s lithe, strong body was tanned by sun and wind and, as ever, Nick was intoxicated by the sight of her.

He rolled her on top of him. “Marry me,” he begged.

She straddled him, smiling. “Maybe.”
