Caroline pulled the blanket around her shoulders and stared at her feet, unable to look at Abby. “Is he going to be OK?”

“I think so. The bullet only grazed him. If he stays warm and quiet, he should be all right.”

Caroline nodded

“I hate what you did to him, Caroline. And I always will. But you helped us down there, and that matters, too.”

She finally looked up. Abby’s expression was severe, but there was more kindness in the other girl’s eyes than Caroline had a right to expect.

For once, she was being given a second chance.

That was nice.

You caught Abby's 'voice' perfectly.

Caroline is difficult, in that one gets the impression that she's not truly evil, but simply oblivious to anyone else's needs.

Well done.

I'm always sort of interested in what happened next with Caroline one feels she was redeemable - more so than villains normally are.

Great drabble! You expressed the ambivalence wonderfully ^_^
Maybe note exactly, but sort of 'I won't forget it, but I could eventually forgive you'?
