“I don’t like the sound of that.”
“It was a leaf crunching under my foot.” Stephen managed to sound tolerant and exasperated at the same time. It was a skill that Claudia envied.
“Something moved.”
“It’s windy.”
Connor peered nervously at the bushes. The boy really didn’t like the great outdoors, as he reminded them at very possible opportunity.
“What do we do if something jumps out at us?”
“I eviscerate it?” Blade hazarded.
Abby winced. “No, we throw a net over it.”
“Yes, miss.”
Abby shot the soldier a narrow-eyed glare.
“Shall we start this conversation again?” Claudia suggested.
