The elven archer nocked an arrow, ready and waiting.

The dragon was fast approaching and all fell back as his fire poured forth.

Sweat sprang out from every pore and his own fear smelt as rank as the dragon’s breath.

“Hold fast,” Fingon ordered, and none even thought to disobey.

Ash smuts danced in the air and landed on their faces as Morgoth’s latest terrifying weapon laughed in the voice of men and sang a cruel, dark song.

The elf shivered even in the heat of its fire.

“Let loose!” Fingon declared.

And at last, their arrows darkened the sky.
