“Would next week be too much to hope for?”
The ARC’s maintenance supervisor considered the question thoughtfully then nodded. “Arp.”
“I take that to mean the contractors are behind schedule?”
“Arp.”
“Problems with the Heavenly Host?”
“Narp. Just them lazy bastards in there. Can’t find their own arses with a torch and a roadmap.”
“So I’m doomed to spend my days saving the ungrateful public from certain death whilst working in a Portakabin in carpark with nothing more than a chipped mug, some instant coffee and milk that passed its use by date sometime last century?”
“Arp.”
