A cottage with a thatched roof; nestling in the heart of the countryside, surrounded by fields, untouched by the modern world.

The place Ryan retreated to when the rest of the world became too much, where he could lie in bed, under a thick, home-made quilt, for as long as he wanted, enjoying the warmth of an old-fashioned range which heated the whole cottage, even in the depth of winter.

The home he had finally shared with Stephen at Christmas, the first person he’d taken back there since his Gran had died.

The cottage at Eye, her legacy to him.
