Summary : Written for Primeval100 Challenge 173, Obsession

Stephen knelt on the damp earth, staring at a partially obscured print.

The shadows of evening were lengthening. If they stayed out longer they’d be working by torchlight.

It went against the grain to give up, but they’d been in the forest since dawn and neither of them had eaten all day.

“Stephen.” Nick’s voice was gentle but insistent.

The young man looked up, blue eyes still sharp and focussed. “We’ll find her, Cutter.”

“Aye, lad, we will.” As Stephen set off into the trees again Nick wondered which of the two of them he was really trying to convince.

Poor Nick. If only he knew - though on second thoughts, it's better for both of them if he never does! :-)

Vivid and clear... although they'd be better served to set her afire if they found her.
