Summary : Written for Primeval 100 Challenge 192, Flesh and Blood

Connor stared down at the piece of wood in his hands.

After hours of painstaking work it now looked and felt like a spear rather than just a thin branch he’d hacked off a tree.

He’d stripped the bark with a piece of stone, sharpened the tip and hardened it in the fire.

The spear was ready, but was he?

Could he actually take what he’d made and use it to kill a living creature?

He needed to eat – Abby needed to eat – so he knew it had to be done.

But the thought of it still made him feel slightly queasy.

Ooh, yeah, that'd make me pretty squeamish too. Actually killing something, then gutting it and preparing it for eating... Ick... I figure, come the apocalypse, I'll probably have to go vegetarian. (Bacon's a kind of fruit, right?)

Very neat defintion of what it was like for Abby and Connor in the Cretaceous.

I'm a complete hypocrite when it comes to eating meat. I don't want to think about where it comes from. So I'd probably become a vegetarian if I had to kill an animal for food.

There's some recent stuff on my LJ that hasn't made it to my masterlist. Have you read Silk and Steel yet? Not sure if that's your sort of thing or not, but there is a lot of it. Otherwise I'd suggest making a start on lukadreaming's masterlist. You'll love her stuff.
