Title : Death of Hope
Author : fredbassett
Fandom : Primeval
Rating : 12
Characters : Patrick Quinn
Disclaimer : Not mine, no money made, don’t sue.
Spoilers : 4.07
Summary : Written for Primeval100 Challenge 103, Rescue.

He hid by day and scavenged by night.

Sometimes he ventured out under a cloudless sky as sunlight made it harder for the creatures to disguise themselves.

He slept in the basement of a ruined building but he had no idea what had happened to its occupants or to anyone else in this empty ruin of a world.

When he was finally able to sleep he expected to awaken with claws or teeth tearing at his throat.

At first he dreamed of rescue, but rescue never came and eventually he stopped dreaming at all.

And he was glad of that.

Poor Patrick. I always wondered if maybe he ended up with some form of PTSD after what he'd been through and I like to think that now Danny knows about him, he wouldn't give up and would try and help him. I think if Ethan/Patrick hadn't run away him and Danny could have sorted things out.

*wibble* I do understand how he could have become so harsh and remote, having been stuck in that kind of place for so long. The killing people thing though? Not so much...

Meep for poor Patrick. It isn't any wonder he's a bit PTSD after how he grew up.

Although this is a grim look at Patrick's childhood, it also says a great deal about his strength of character and resilience. He did survive. Its unfortunate that his nature took a turn to the dark. Nicely written.
