The siren song of the Anomaly Detection Device cut through the low hum of conversation in the atrium like a hot knife through butter.

From the balcony, Lester watched the usual rapid scramble as black-clad soldiers armed themselves and the civilian team members grabbed the monitoring equipment, tranquilliser guns and other miscellaneous paraphernalia that always seemed to accompany a call-out.

Connor quickly programmed the coordinates into their navigation systems and handed over his work-station to one of the technicians.

As the convoy drove off down the ramp, Lester felt the now-familiar fear gnawing at his guts.

Would they all return?
