The anomaly flickered and winked out of existence.
“Bugger.” Stephen summed up in one word what everyone else was thinking.
“We did our best,” Abby offered. “It’s not our fault they don’t move very fast.”
“They don’t actually seem to move at all,” remarked Ryan, staring at the object of their labours.
“That’s a good thing, right?” Connor offered chirpily. “Lester’ll be pleased. He’s always complaining that the animals are running around the menagerie making a racket.”
“It can double as a draught-excluder in his office,” Nick commented.
The giant sloth rolled onto its back and waved a sleepy paw.

aside from that one detail, I enjoyed this immensely.
EDIT: Luka reminded me of something: you could also get Era of the Month credit for this, as there were plenty of Giant Sloths in the Pliocene.
