“I could drop him into a pile of dinosaur dung if it would help, ma’am,” Ryan offered.

Claudia stared mordantly at Nick Cutter’s latest uninformative report and sighed. “Thank you, Captain, I think it might.”

The following day, even though Ryan claimed to have been nowhere near him at the time, Nick still ended up needing a shower.

When Lester was particularly irritating in a meeting, all it took was a slightly raised eyebrow from Ryan to send her into a fit of giggles.

The note she passed to him read: I’ll settle for a box of chocolates this time.
