Lester winced as the antiseptic stung his chest.
“Nearly done,” Ditzy said, his voice calm and reassuring as he wound a bandage around the wounds.
Lester nodded, not trusting himself to speak. The rush of adrenalin had worn off now, leaving him feeling sick and shaken.
He kept his eyes firmly fixed on the wall but a moment later he started to shiver uncontrollably.
Ditzy pulled him into a gentle hug. “Let it go, James, it’s over now, you’re OK.”
His lover’s hands rubbed soothing circles on his back and Lester finally started to believe that he really was safe.
