“Taking your tutorial group while you go to the Grants Committee?”

“Connor’s dealing with the students. You’re coming with me.”

“Why, to carry your bloody briefcase?”

“I don’t own a briefcase.”

“So you don’t need me then,” muttered Stephen.

“All you have to do is sit there and look pretty.”

“It won’t work, Cutter. We’ve tried that trick before.”

“The Dean likes you.”

“The Dean prefers the skinny blond from Earth Sciences.”

Nick Cutter grinned.

Stephen Hart always did underestimate the power of cornflower blue eyes, absurdly long black eyelashes and a nice ass

"Not entirely, only some of them ........"

"Well, that's all right then," remarked Stephen, cheerfully, "at least the afternoon hasn't been a total waste of time."

"not where," Abby said as she walked past.

Freezing water was preferable to this new look, Connor was certain of that. "You lost them to someone else? WHO?" afraid to ask 'how?'...Do geeks gamble? It was a question he'd never really considered before.

"The good new is," Connor said, "you already know -"

"CONNOR!"

"Your wife."
