I'll never forget the people I met
Braving those angry skies

Matt stared down at the sea, the words of a song written hundreds of years before he was even born running insistently through his mind.

I remember well as the shadows fell
The light of hope in their eyes

They’d all wished him well, knowing that they would almost certainly never meet again, believing that the price of his success would mean the erasure of their very existence.

Every one of them had believed it would be a price worth paying.

And he owed it to them to succeed.

It wasn't what I intended at all, but when I googled the lyrics they just screamed Matt at me. I think it was the 'angry skies' bit that did it, plus 'the light of hope'.
