Nick Cutter was used to his wife’s visits.
He could always tell when she’d been around. The place looked even more untidy than usual.
This time he found a scrawled note lying on his desk.
I told the fat guy you’d left the mince pies for me not him. Thanks for the new rucksack. Your present’s under the tree.
A large palm frond from the depths of the carboniferous rainforest stood propped up against the wall. Under it was a small black notebook. Filled with observations on the mating habits of various dinosaurs.
Nick grinned. She’d never been subtle, either.

just when I think you're at the top of your game, perfect form...you produce a work that's even better!
and yay, Helen, for nabbing the mince pies! you deserve them, girl!
(see, Nick, if you'd gone with cookies, this wouldn't have happened) ;)

Date: 2007-12-15 08:21 pm (UTC)Also I agree you wrote gen, not het (though you have written het before, the scary Ryan/Helen piece you did was very het!) You should totally make a list of 'Things To Write...' you could have little sub-headings for the extra wrong stuff!! My most interesting sub-headings get underlined in shiny red pen.... :D
yay!

Date: 2007-12-16 03:13 pm (UTC)But as you say, I have had scary little het excursions in the past, and may well do so again, which I acknowledge will be Extra Wrong.
Glad you liked this :)
