primeval100 Challenge 283, For Sale
Nick stared out his study window watching a post being hammered into the ground.
His heart thumped in his chest with each blow.
The man stepped back to admire his handiwork but Nick turned away and took the stairs two at a time, almost tripping up in his haste.
“Take it down! I’ve changed my mind. I’m sorry, but… take it down, please.”
He couldn’t go through with this.
If Helen returned, she would come here.
He couldn’t sell their home, despite the ever-present reminders of the wife he had loved and lost.
The For Sale sign had to go.
