aunteeneenah’s birthday. I hope you have a lovely day!
Connor watched as Abby’s eyes widened in delight at the sight of the sumptuous Christmas tree positively dropping with decorations.
They settled themselves down on a huge sofa covered in thick, brightly coloured blankets and warmed their hands in front of a roaring log fire.
A smiling waiter placed two tall crystal glasses on the table in front of them.
They sipped the champagne cocktails and smiled at each other.
It was their first Christmas together as a couple, and Connor wanted everything to be perfect.
He didn’t want Abby to have to do anything. No cooking, no washing up, no worrying about him mucking things up in the kitchen.
So he’d gone on line and found a country house hotel set in several acres of beautiful forest, with its own swimming pool and spa, which offered Christmas breaks. It wasn’t cheap, but with a year’s worth of accrued back pay sitting in the bank, Connor certainly didn’t have to worry about the expense, and anyway, nothing was too good for Abby.
And from the tears shining in her eyes and the look of pure happiness on her face, Connor knew that for once he’d got something exactly right.
