“The anomaly’s stable,” Connor reported.

Ryan said firmly, “I go first, Professor, remember?”

“Well, get on with it man!”

Ryan stepped through into darkness illuminated only by the light from the anomaly.

The air was cool, dry and musty but breathable.

He switched on the torch mounted on his M4 carbine and a pair of dark, almond-shaped eyes, heavy with eye-liner glared at him.

Ryan held his fire and stared back.

An ornate, banded headdress surrounded an unmoving face.

A face he recognised from a thousand photos.

The golden face of a long-dead king in an as yet undisturbed tomb.

Oh, ok, I see the reason for the name. They get the see the glory of the tomb before it was plundered in the name of ... whatever ... Well, they did prove that the anomalies didn't just go to prehistoric times. Interesting.
