“Professor, duck!”

Three months around Ryan had taught Nick Cutter to react first and ask questions later.

His survival usually depended on it.

He ducked.

The rest of the team grinned.

Connor shook an admonishing finger at the Special Forces captain. “You weren’t paying attention in last weeks lecture, were you?”

“At least he didn’t shoot it,” Abby pointed out.

Ryan looked aggrieved and muttered, “Looks like a duck, walks like a duck ……….”

“Has it quacked?”

The caudipteryx shook its tail feathers, gave a loud and indignant squawk and scuttled back through the anomaly. 

“It quacked!” announced Ryan smugly.

heehee. Looks like Nick has been learning more from Ryan than the other way round. And Ryan being smug at the end was great. And, hey, he didn't shoot it, so he *has* learnt something after all.

It took me longer to sort out the last line than the rest of the drabble put together!

Well we never did find out of there was any geographical lik between then and now through them and so I've presumed not, especially as continents were still moving then!

I now owe all my critters to the Dixon book :)

Admittedly completely off topic, but I thought this was the quickest way of getting a message to you.

Have you seen that Ben miller is staring in a new series that starts tonight - 'Moving Wallpaper' - on ITV at 9.00 (I think, you may want to double check that). Also, if you can get hold of it, there's a full page interview with him (with quite nice picture) in today's Metro free newspaper. I don't normally read it, but there was a copy of it on the seat next to me on the bus this morning, and I might have ignored it if it hadn't been left open at that page.

Apparently, before he was an actor, he was doing quantum physiscs at Cambridge university. Random fact for the day.
