“Where’s the woman who found her?” DI Marie Grant looked over the hastily-erected blue and white tape, glad that she’d skipped breakfast that morning.
Her DS jerked his head over at the café on the edge of the park. “Over there, being force-fed sweet tea."
Marie looked over at the café in time to see three black Range Rovers screech up to the kerb and disgorge a bunch of heavies even more tooled-up than the Tactical Support Group.
“What the fuck…?”
“Captain Tom Ryan, ma’am,” one of them said, holding out his phone to her. “Your Chief Constable will explain.”
