“Everyone stay back!” Abby’s voice was low, but held a very distinct note of command.

Ryan gestured to his men to do as she ordered.

A small creature that looked like a scrawny monkey was huddled in a corner of a derelict warehouse, staring at her out of large, frightened dark eyes.

Moving slowly and steadily, all the time talking quietly in a sing-song voice, Abby finally got close enough to drop a soft blanket around its thin shoulders.

Ryan let out a pent-up breath.

He always got nervous dealing with something that might have been one of his ancestors.
