Summary : Written for the Primeval100 challenge 400, Picture Prompt 12.
A/N : As the prompt was posted in 2014, I felt I had to round the year off with one final drabble, and it seemed kind of apt.
Lester poured two generous measures of cognac into crystal glasses.
“Happy New Year, Jon.”
They clinked their glasses together and each took a sip just as fireworks exploded all around the London Eye and across the river.
Lyle stared thoughtfully out of the floor to ceiling window in Lester’s Whitehall Court apartment. He had something important to ask.
“Penny for them?” Lester enquired.
“Seabirds of the world or endangered species?”
Lester gave the matter serious thought as the pyrotechnics outside reached a crescendo. “The former, I think, my little stormy petrel.”
Lyle grinned.
2015 was off to a good start.
