Mrs Whitcombe (Year 3 English, still not retired) smiled a distinctly reptilian smile.
“Jacob has such a vivid imagination.”
“You always said the same about me.”
A grubby exercise book was pushed across the equally grubby desk.
“I don’t recall you ever claiming to have seen a dinosaur.”
Annie Hazleton pulled a piece of paper out of her pocket and unfolded it.
The words Official Secrets Act competed with her son’s heading: Dear Diary and won.
“They said he was too young to sign this.” She smiled back at her old nemesis. “And there really are two i’s in diictodon.”
