It was Ryan’s turn to choose the CD and, as Stephen headed out to the kitchen to fetch more beers, he heard a familiar siren wail echo around the flat.
Fortunately, the old lady who lived downstairs was deaf, and besotted with Ryan in equal measure.
His lover’s taste in heavy metal had now become the stuff of legend in the ARC. Even Lester still smiled fondly at memories of the Home Secretary’s unannounced visit, when her tour of the building had been carried out to the strains of Ryan’s favourite Black Sabbath track blasting out of the recreation room.
