Becker stared with an air of detachment at his hands.
He could load any weapon you cared to name one-handed if necessary, but now, weak from blood loss and exhaustion, he was shaking like a raw recruit pitched too early into combat.
With his foot jammed against the door, he started to feed bullets into his SIG Sauer’s magazine.
One dropped to the floor and rolled away.
No time to look for it not even though a wasted bullet might mean a wasted life.
He rammed the clip home and steadied his hands.
The predators were coming for him again.
