At 6am, the ARC was mainly inhabited by its cleaners, doing their best to get rid of the mud, blood and unidentified globby bits that the field teams trailed in on an all too regular basis.
The soldiers on night shift slept whenever they could and unless there was a problem in the menagerie or the labs, none of the scientists were early birds.
“Coffee, Sir James?”
Lester looked up. As usual, there were two chocolate biscuits on the tray. He smiled. “Thank you, Trisha.”
She smiled back. “See you tomorrow morning.”
Lester definitely preferred working early to working late.
