“So there’s this crocodile in the dock…” Connor said, bracing himself as Becker took a corner on two wheels.
The truck lurched but continued hurtling along the road at speed.
“… and the prosecution barrister says, ‘Do you admit that you committed murder in cold blood?”
Once as the pressure from the seatbelt eased, Connor carried on, “And the crocodile says, ‘Of course I did it in cold blood, I’m a reptile!”
Becker gave him a withering look as he jammed his foot on the accelerator. “One more sodding crocodile joke, and you’re walking the rest of the way, Temple!
