“Yes, Prime Minister, the damage is unfortunate, but in the team’s defence…”
They’d saved three kids from something the size of a car equipped with teeth as long as her forearm, Claudia thought, as Lester’s defence was abruptly truncated.
Unfortunately, Ferrari’s owner was a crony of the PM’s husband and his car hadn’t made the team’s priority list.
“They saved the lives of three children and Lady Fanshawe’s poodle,” Lester snapped, his patience abruptly giving way. “You can take the damage out of someone else’s budget for a change!”
He grinned at Claudia and put the phone down. “Sod her.”
